There’s a bit of a discussion and disagreement in the city regarding the recent renaming of the Murat Centre to the Old National Centre since Live Nation sold the naming rights Old National Bank.
According to legal representation for the Murat, the leasing agreement of the facility to Live Nation never included provisions for renaming the venue.
Some people are suggesting boycotting Old National Bank until they make the change, but I say just call it what you want. I remember similar frustration when RCA bought the rights to call the Hoosier Dome the RCA Dome instead. I’ll guarantee you if you say "Old National Centre", people won’t know where you’re talking about and you’ll have to say, "You know, The Murat" anyway.
